Help us Define the Future of Intergenerational Community
One Roof Chicago is an initiative to build a welcoming and inclusive intergenerational community for older adults and young people in need of affirming housing, meaningful connection, and career development. One Roof Chicago will combine:
- Mixed income housing for LGBTQ+ seniors, as well as older adults living with HIV -- including a continuum of care as residents’ needs for assistance increase
- Supportive housing at the same site for LGBTQ+ young adults
- Focused job training in culturally competent senior care
We are on our way to creating a place where LGBTQ+ older adults can age in safety, comfortable in the knowledge that they are accepted and celebrated. Likewise, LGBTQ+ young adults will have the security of their own space, along with the resources to make their goals a reality.
One Roof Chicago is a new type of Home, a space where LGBTQ+ residents can thrive, share intergenerational wisdom, and build found family.

With your support, we're building a a site unlike any other.
We envision a five-story residential building with robust kitchens, communal and private lounge areas, and state of the art computer labs. Our plans include dedicated senior centers and youth recreation areas.
Every contribution counts!
We need to raise $1.25M in 2023-2024 to cover pre-development legal, architectural, and technical fees, as well as the application process for Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). This allows us to move forward into construction.
